Scott Laurie joined The Olson Company in 2007 and serves as President and Chief Executive Officer. He provides strategic leadership for all aspects of the company’s operations, including acquisitions, development, finance, construction, legal affairs, human resources, and long-term business planning.
Under Scott’s leadership, The Olson Company has strengthened its position as one of Southern California’s leading developers of innovative infill housing communities, creating homeownership opportunities in more than 100 cities throughout the region. The Company has earned the prestigious Eliant Homebuyers’ Choice Award for Best Overall Home Purchase and Ownership Experience in North America eleven times, including seven consecutive years as the highest-ranked builder in customer satisfaction. This distinction reflects Olson’s unwavering commitment to exceptional homeowner experiences and operational excellence.
Prior to joining Olson, Scott spent ten years with KB Home, where he held a variety of corporate and division-level executive roles, including serving as Inland Valley President.
With more than 30 years of experience in homebuilding and real estate development, Scott is widely recognized for his expertise in land acquisition, community development, strategic planning, and housing policy. He remains an active industry leader and advocate for expanding attainable homeownership opportunities throughout California. Scott serves on the Executive Committee of the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate and is a member of the Urban Land Institute’s Residential Neighborhood Leadership Development Council. He previously served on the Executive Board of the Building Industry Association of Southern California’s Baldy View Chapter and has participated in numerous regional housing, land use, and real estate organizations.
A lifelong Southern Californian, Scott is passionate about creating thoughtfully designed communities that expand homeownership opportunities and strengthen neighborhoods throughout the region. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban Planning and Development from the University of Southern California.
Previously with KB Home where he held the position of Inland Valley President, Scott held various corporate and division-level executive positions in his nine years at the company.
In the homebuilding industry since 1996, Scott is currently a member of the Executive Committee for the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate, as well as a member of the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy and the Urban Land Institute Residential Neighborhood Council. He has previously served on the Executive Board of the Building Industry Association of Southern California, Baldy View Chapter, and has been involved in various other real estate organizations.
A native of Southern California and a resident of Los Angeles, Scott earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern California in Urban Planning and Development.
